Mission
Sounds Unusual is a festival and platform for the presentation of New Music in the Northern Territory featuring international and national talent and local innovation. Sounds Unusual was founded as an opportunity for locals and visitors to NT/Darwin to experience first-hand developments and performances in new media and new music otherwise unknown or unavailable to them in either the mainstream or alternative channels. Sounds Unusual also provides a platform for local artists to participate in the development of new music in the Northern Territory. Sounds Unusual aims to create a true alternative to mainstream arts events, presenting new music in conjunction with interdisciplinary arts practices, creating a special experience for patrons and artists alike.
