Sounds Unusual launched its 2006 Festival Program in a one off performance in the main gallery 24HR Art in Parap. 24HR Art lived up to its reputation as the hottest gallery in the world, sweat was shed, coronas were drunk and an unusual night of music was enjoyed by all.

Marko Ciciliani is the first international musician to come and perform in Darwin for Sounds Unusual, providing a unique opportunity for Darwin folk to see work that combines innovation and technical virtuosity. Marko was sent to Australia to perform with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra by the Dutch Government and we were fortunate to witness his music live.

As well as press in the NT News for the program launch (NT News 25/05/06) Sounds Unusual has been profiled by journalist Ben Langford in the Friday Fix section (26/06/06). Mention of the festival was also made during an interview on Classic FM in March of this year.
