For the 2007 Festival Program, Sounds Unusual has aimed to live up to its name as a "Northern Territory Festival for New Music", moving now to both ends of the Territory. Forging a new partnership with the Alice Springs Desert Festival, Sounds Unusual is now presenting a program of events in September in Alice Springs as well as in Darwin later in the month. This year SU07 presents a compact and accessible program that will begin on Saturday 8th September with a concert in the desert outside of Alice Springs. Sounds Unusual will then present a series of events in conjunction with the Desert Festival and Watch this Space Artist Run Initiative before travelling up the Stuart Highway to Darwin for the conclusion of its program.
International, interstate and local artists from a variety of multidisciplinary arts backgrounds once again present diverse events in new and exciting locations, from Undoolya Creek in Alice Springs to Fannie Bay Gaol in Darwin and beyond. Taking in the space of the desert through field trips, soundwalks and installations through to the final presentation in tropical capital.
Be challenged, be amazed - have your ideas of music and sound turned on their head. Even if you don't understand it, you'll like it.
